NASDAQ has it worst day since January 27.

Technical Analysis

The major indices close lower in trading here today with the NASDAQ index getting hammered and having its worst trading day since January 27 (DeepSeek day). The NASDAQ index is now down -3.97% on the year.

A snapshot of the closing levels shows:

  • Dow industrial average -193.62 points or -0.45% at 43239.50.
  • S&P index -94.49 points or -1.59% at 5861.57.
  • NASDAQ index -530.84 points or -2.78% at 18544.42.

The small-cap Russell 2000 fell -34.5 point points or -1.59% at 2139.65.

Shares of Nvidia tumbled -8.48%. It’s worst day since the DeepSeek announcement back on January 27, and one day after announcing earnings that beat expectations.

Palantir fell another -5.10%, Meta was down -2.29% , Microsoft fell -1.80%, and Amazon fell -2.62%.

Tesla fell -3.04% t $281.95, and is within three dollars of its 200 day moving average at $278.14. The last time the price test its 200 day moving average it bounced off that level back on August 28 when the stock was trading around $203 the stock price is now down -42% from it’s December high at $488.54.
